Vodafone Junior Warrior Sam Lisone has been acknowledged for his mammoth efforts on the park this year by being named the player of the year for NYC at the Red Ball awards on Tuesday night.

Lisone, a co-captain of the side, was also recognized as the player's player which highlighted his rapport with his teammates.

The domineering prop was thrilled to be rewarded for his work during the regular season and into the playoffs.

"I'm really honoured and privileged to be receiving this award," said Sam. "Especially with the bunch of talent that we have in the team."

An exciting 2015 campaign awaits Lisone, with the recent announcement that he will be elevated into the NRL squad alongside fellow juniors Solomone Kata, Brad Abbey and Ken Maumalo.

"I'm really excited about next year," said Sam. "But first I'm just thinking about this year and getting to the NYC grand final."

With the NRL and NSW Cup squads done for the year, the juniors will be shouldering the club's hopes when they face off against the Knights in Saturday's semi-final. Lisone will be leading a unit determined to extend their playoff run.
