Luck lasts but Vulcans rolled

Veteran Vodafone Warriors back rower Micheal Luck couldn't have had a more exacting return to the field when he made his comeback for the Auckland Vulcans in their New South Wales Cup clash against Wentworthville on Mount Smart Stadium's No 2 ground today.

The 30-year-old, who retires at the end of the season, has made only two NRL appearances so far this season.

After a series of operations and off-season injuries, Luck made bench appearances against Cronulla and North Queensland before being sidelined with his left shoulder again troubling him.

He wanted to make his return via the Vulcans to test his shoulder. It certainly got a heavy workout today as the Vulcans found themselves on the wrong end of a 14-64 defeat by Wentworthville.

It may take a day or two to determine how Luck's shoulder fared after a solid workout.
