Vodafone Warriors fullback Kevin Locke (pictured) has been forced to shelve plans to make his comeback with the Auckland Vulcans in their New South Wales Cup match against Cronulla in Sydney on Saturday.
Locke (23) has been out of action since injuring his sternum in the opening minutes of the Vodafone Warriors’ NRL encounter with Melbourne on Anzac Day.
After missing the victories over Brisbane and the Sydney Roosters he was earmarked to return against Wests Tigers last week but was subsequently ruled out after failing a fitness test.
Yesterday he was named to make his return with the Vulcans this weekend but he has again been forced to withdraw. Vodafone Warriors head coach Brian McClennan today conceded Locke still wasn't quite ready.
The first-choice fullback picked up a heavy cork in his right leg in the March 24 match against Gold Coast, keeping him out of the following games against the Sydney Roosters, Canberra and South Sydney. He returned against Melbourne but lasted only six minutes, the only football he has been able to play in the last two months.
